Resources in health care and nursing are becoming scarce, and the opportunities offered by technology must be better exploited. Telemonitoring is a tool that uses a digital platform to provide services remotely. Communicating with citizens remotely minimises the risk of spreading viruses and infections. It rationalises healthcare.
Telemonitoring means that any person in need of care communicates with the healthcare professional via computer, tablet or telephone. With individually adapted devices, e.g. measuring devices for heart rate, blood pressure, blood sugar and ECG, the vital data of the person to be cared for in their own home or nursing home are recorded. The health care personnel monitor the health status of the citizen from a distance and are notified if the values change. Appropriate recommendations can then be made by the health care personnel.
Citizens measure their health status at home. Using individually handed out measuring devices, individuals check their own vital data on a daily basis and send these results to the nursing staff via an app. This app also serves as a way for the person being cared for to communicate with the nursing staff. Data is recorded, sent, processed and presented so that the resources of the health care system can be used and exploited in the best possible way.
